I made the trip down to the City Park Criterium to cheer on the Squad while I wait to see what the verdict wil be on my shoulder. Due to Traffic I missed out on the P-1-2 where Tomasz and Jim were racing. Holding true to this years theme, it was Jims turn to to inspect the road department's paving job. Lucky for him Tomaz had thrown in some spare wheels in the pit. Next race up was the 35+open race. Todd was the only rider to make the trip down for this one (he is probably still trying to figure out why he didn't just go for a ride in the Boulder countryside). A tight hamstring and a field of the top riders strung out on caffiene (or was it EPO?) driving the pace ended Todds ride early. Oh and of course a crash in front of him didn't help either. Next up was the Cat 4 race. We had Dustin (suffering from the effects of multiple rides up Rist canyon since his move back to Ft Collins) and Andy (1st year CU rider turned AE Sport for the summer season) in this one. Dustin held off the fatigue as long as he could before succumbing to the inevitable, and drifted off the back. Andy, riding well, along with a fellow CU rider went on a prime blitz with Andy finishing 4th and his buddy taking first. Between andy and his friend it sounds like they pulled down about $800 in prizes, of which included a $500 party for 10 at an exclusive Gentlemans Club. On to the 35+4 race with Kevin, Larry, and Chris Woody. The excitement started before the bike was on the trainer. Kevin's rear tire blows (Larry's fault for dragging him through glass), we change out the tire and tube and without seating the tube it blows sending Chris Wentz scrambling for another tube. New tire and tube on, warmups complete, and on to the race. Lap after lap, the field got widdled down with our boys rolling right along. Kevin stops at the pit midway through the race and takes a break to save up for the final push. (front flat this time, dang worn out glass chewed tires) With the final lap bell rung, here comes the AE juggernaut. Kevin O'brien sprints through for the win with Larry in 7th and Chris in 17th. Kevin gets a loaf of bread and will probably see in his mail box his upgrade to Cat3 this week. I can't wait to see him do the same in the 35+ races.

Brian is being nice...a tight hammy and wreck were the catalyst to ending my day but even without either the hammy or the wreck, I would have been lucky to hang on. My legs were spent from the TT on Sat. I am thinking the slower you go in the previous days TT, the more tired your legs must get. Because my legs were damn tired!!
